Tony Khan to add major new match for AEW Worlds End 2024 featuring former WWE Champion - Reports
Tony Khan is reportedly set to add a new match for AEW World's End. A former champion hinted at the possibility recently.
Swerve Strickland has been feuding with Bobby Lashley ever since the latter's debut. The two men locked horns at Full Gear and Lashley picked up the win. However, Swerve was not satisfied with the outcome of the match and he confronted the All Mighty at the AEW All In Countdown to On Sale event.
This week on Collision, Swerve Strickland cut a promo where he said he was going to get his hands on Lashley before the end of the year. However, he never explicitly challenged the former WWE Champion to a match.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that although it sounded like he was challenging Lashley to a match, he didn't do so. But there is a possibility that this match could take place at World's End and Tony Khan could announce it as early as Wednesday. He also mentioned that there's room for more matches to be added to the card:
“He cuts a promo and it was very bizarre. He just said, ‘Lashley, I said that I was gonna get my hands on you before the end of 2024,’ and that was it. He didn’t challenge him to a match or anything. They never announced a match for the pay-per-view. It sounded like he was challenging for Worlds End but he didn’t actually do it. He just said I vowed to get my hands on you by the end of 2024, so I guess that match is on Worlds End. It has not been announced, it’s not like there’s lots of time left. Are they gonna announce it Wednesday? They might. They should have announced it on this show. They got like 8 matches so far for Worlds End so we got at least 6 more.” [H/T Ringside News]
AEW star Bobby Lashley claims Swerve Strickland wants to join the Hurt Syndicate
When MVP first debuted in AEW, he offered his managerial services to Swerve Strickland. However, the former World Champion turned him down. This kickstarted a feud between Swerve and The Hurt Syndicate ultimately resulting in a match between the former and Bobby Lashley. However, the All Mighty still feels that Swerve wants to join his group.
During a recent interview with Sports Guys Talk Wrestling, Lashley claimed Swerve was just trying to get his attention since he wants another chance to join the Hurt Syndicate. However, this time, the answer is no:
"He wants another opportunity to be a part of the Hurt Syndicate. We just don’t know if we’re gonna give it to him. So whatever he’s trying to do, I said, hey man, we’re gonna put an ad on Indeed and a couple of the other sites, and you can apply. We’ll look at your application and see if you have the ability to be in it. But right now, the answer’s no [laughs]."
It will be interesting to see if Bobby Lashley and Swerve Strickland will compete at AEW World's End 2024.
