Tony Khan claims he had a long night keeping AEW star out of “jail” after recent incident

AEW President Tony Khan recently claimed to have had a difficult night keeping a top AEW star out of prison after the latter's actions on this week's Dynamite. The talent in question is Hangman Page.

The blood feud between Adam Page and Swerve Strickland has been one of the Jacksonville-based promotion's defining storylines since 2023. The rivalry took a shocking turn this week on Wednesday Night Dynamite when The Anxious Millennial Cowboy skipped his contract signing with Strickland for their imminent Steel Cage bout at AEW All Out 2024, and instead showed up at Swerve's childhood home, which the Washington native had recently purchased, before proceeding to set it on fire.

The incident took place on the latest edition of Dynamite on September 4. Anticipation regarding the upcoming steel cage battle between Page and Strickland has risen even further since Tony Khan announced that the bout had been modified to an Unsanctioned Lights Out match.

During the media call for All Out 2024, Khan revealed that he had had a long night trying to prevent Hangman Page from going to jail, presumably for committing arson on television, albeit in storyline:

"I'm so excited about the card [for All Out] top to bottom, and I'm excited to get your questions, so with that, we can jump into it. Although, I will say, it's been quite a long night, you know, trying to keep Hangman out of jail," said Khan. [0:47 - 1:00]

Swerve Strickland responded to Tony Khan changing the stipulation for his AEW All Out 2024 match

The next chapter in the rivalry between Swerve Strickland and Hangman Adam Page will unfold at AEW All Out 2024. The two men were already poised to clash inside a steel cage in the Now Arena this coming Saturday. However, after The Cowboy burned down Strickland's childhood home on Dynamite this week, Tony Khan revealed that the bout was now going to be an Unsanctioned Lights Out match.

Swerve Strickland, who has already declared vengeance against Hangman, has since responded to Khan's announcement on social media. Taking to X/Twitter, the former AEW World Champion left the All Elite CEO an ominous message.

"Blood is on [sic] your hands now," he wrote.

It remains to be seen whether Hangman or Swerve will walk out of the cage triumphantly at All Out.
