Tony Khan comments on top stars' return to AEW TV amid lengthy absence
Dynasty 2024 is in the history books and the Tony Khan-led creative team is now looking to focus on its next set of storylines. The AEW President addressed various aspects of the promotion, including the future of Kenny Omega and Britt Baker, following the show.
Former world champion Kenny Omega has been away from TV since December last year after he was diagnosed with diverticulitis. During Dynasty's post-show media scrum, the AEW President said he was hoping to see The Cleaner and Baker back in action soon.
"I look forward to seeing both of them as soon as we possibly can. I think both of them have been recuperating from totally different things. Both great, former world champions for AEW, and hopefully we can see them both soon," said Khan.
Tony Khan expressed his desire to see Omega appear on AEW's next show in Winnipeg. He also hailed the Canadian star as one of the greatest champions in the company's history.
"Going to Winnipeg, it would be great, even if he can’t return, to see Kenny Omega, that would be pretty awesome for the fans up there. That is something I’m optimistic [about]. Hopefully, we could do [it]. We miss Kenny Omega. I’ve talked to him a few times this week. He’s one of our greatest champions and greatest stars ever. He’s been here from the beginning. We definitely miss him." [H/T: Fightful]
It was recently announced that an episode of Dynamite that was supposed to be live from Winnipeg, Canada, on April 10, would be taped on May 1. Meanwhile, fans are wondering whether Omega will make an appearance in front of his home crowd.
While Omega has been away from the ring for a while, he was recently in the headlines for his comments on CM Punk. The Cleaner disclosed that he was at peace with The Voice of the Voiceless after their alleged backstage fight in 2022.
Tony Khan spoke about Britt Baker's comeback
Britt Baker has been away from AEW programming for nearly seven months, raising questions about her future with the promotion. The 32-year-old has been nursing an undisclosed injury after wrestling her last match in September 2023.
At the post-Dynasty press conference, Tony Khan said he hoped Baker would make her comeback soon after the latter's real-life partner, Adam Cole, appeared on Sunday's show.
"For Britt Baker, the sooner she’s back, the better, she’s a great world champion for us and a great representative for AEW. We’ve missed her. That would be tremendous. We saw Adam Cole back tonight and hopefully, we’ll see Dr. Britt Baker back sometime soon too." [H/T: Fightful]
Fans are eager to witness Baker's return, and it remains to be seen what plans the Tony Khan-led creative team has in store for her.
