Tony Khan confirms he has not inserted an injury clause in top AEW star's contract
One of AEW's top stars is known to be a huge risk-taker. However, Tony Khan has confirmed that he has not added an injury clause to his contract.
Darby Allin has been with AEW since the very beginning and is considered one of the pillars of the company. He spent several years in a tag team with Sting and was even a part of The Icon's retirement match.
Allin has a huge fan following in AEW due to his antics in the ring. He is no stranger to putting his body on the line during matches. Over the years, fans have witnessed The Daredevil perform some insane stunts in the ring. The most dangerous of these is when he dove through a sheet of glass during Sting's retirement match. Based on Allin's antics, one would think that Tony Khan would have an injury clause in his contract.
During an interview with Levack and Goz, Tony Khan was asked if he's ever thought of putting an injury clause in Darby's contract. Tony replied by saying that the star's risk-taking nature is what makes him so unique and that's what appeals to the fans. He also called Darby one of the great wrestlers and risk-takers in the world.
"No, no I haven't. That's one of the things that makes Darby so unique and special. He is always at the forefront and always at the cutting edge. He wants to try new things. It's that risk taking, that energy, these things make him so unique and appealing to the wrestling fans. I like to tap into that. He takes big risks, but it's the risks he takes in the ring as a wrestler that are even more dangerous than when he climbs Mount Everest or does some of the craziest motorcycle stunts you'll ever see. The guy is an absolute wizard in the ring and he's one of the great wrestlers and risk takers in the world right now," said Khan. [H/T: Fightful]
AEW star Darby Allin confirms he will climb Mount Everest next year
Darby Allin has proven time and again that he isn't afraid of taking risks inside and outside the ring. He made it clear when he announced that he would be climbing Mount Everest this year. However, that plan got derailed after he suffered a foot injury. But he still hasn't given up on that dream.
During an interview on Levack and Goz, Darby Allin admitted that injuring his foot is a sign that he should climb Mount Everest next year.
“Yup. Two weeks before I was supposed to leave, I broke that foot. It was the most depressing thing ever. Everybody was like, ‘It’s a sign that you shouldn’t climb.’ Hell no. It’s a sign that I should climb next year. We’re coming up and it’s right around the corner. I’m ready to do it.” [H/T: Insidetheropes]
