Tony Khan decided not to prolong top AEW star's rumored move to WWE - Reports

The rivalry between WWE and AEW is intense. Ever since the latter was established, they have signed several names from their competitor. Some of them are Samoa Joe, Swerve Strickland, Adam Copeland (Fka Edge), Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, and more. Interstingly, the Triple H-led company has also brought in several ex-AEW stars.

There are strong reports stating that The Lucha Brothers ( Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix) have signed a multi-year contract with the WWE. The duo debuted in AEW in 2019 and won titles such as the AEW World Tag Team Championship and the AEW World Trios Championship. Furthermore, Fenix is a former AEW International Champion. Interestingly, reports suggest Tony Khan had the option to extend the 33-year-old luchador's contract due to the injury time clause. Had he exercised it, Fenix would have been forced to remain in the company. However, the AEW president decided not to do that.

As per Ibou of WrestlePurists, Tony Khan respects Fenix's work ethic, dedication, and professionalism. This is why he chose not to make the 33-year-old stay against his will.

"Tony Khan elected to not extend Rey Fenix’s contract with injury time, despite reserving the right to legally do so. Rey Fenix busted his ass for AEW, never caused issues behind the scenes, and was a day 1 guy,” Ibou explained. [H/T: Ringside News]

Booker T wants to see former AEW World Tag Team Champions on the WWE main roster

When Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix were still signed to AEW and rumored to jump ship, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T expressed his desire to see them directly perform on RAW and SmackDown. He believes that the duo is immensely talented and it wouldn't be an issue if they skipped NXT.

"Bring The Lucha Brothers in. Put them on the main roster. You can let them cut through NXT and stuff. Those guys are extraordinary talent. Give them a chance."

The WWE roster is overflowing with talent. It will be interesting to see how The Lucha Brothers will do in the Stamford-based company.
