Tony Khan has done a "terrible job" of bringing major AEW star back, says veteran

A former WCW veteran recently talked about a certain AEW star's run following his return to the promotion and how, for him, this has not gone according to expectations. This would be Konnan.

Earlier this year, Jack Perry appeared in NJPW following his suspension from AEW, calling himself "The Scapegoat." At this point, he had turned his back on the promotion until The Elite brought him back in. He was reinstated by Tony Khan, but this ended up being part of the faction's plans to take over AEW.

On a recent edition of Keepin' It 100, Konnan talked about how Jack Perry blindsided Dante Martin after the All-Star tag team match this week on AEW Dynamite. For him, this felt like something unnecessary for his character, as he feels that overall Perry's booking since his return has fallen flat.

"And I thought at the end with Jack Perry, all this hoopla about him coming back and he's the traitor or victim or whatever name he gave himself...the scapegoat or whatever. They made him this big deal with the Young Bucks, and then he just comes out and does that with Dante (Martin), who's not a big deal. I mean they've done a terrible job of bringing Jack Perry back."

He continued by saying how they should have booked Perry differently and as a self-absorbed individual instead.

"And bro all he had to do was come back with his chick. I got the hottest *censored* in the promotion right?... I'm the *censored* son of a superstar, I'm self-paid, I don't even *censored* need wrestling, I'm a good-looking guy, I can get any *censored*, he's riding a *censored* Lamborghini just in LA, right?" AEW's Jeff Jarrett defends Jack Perry's Scapegoat persona

During an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Jeff Jarrett spoke with Bill Apter about Jack Perry's run since his return to AEW.

Jarrett praised Perry's execution of his current character, as this has gotten him heavy exposure and reactions from the fans. He believed that he was maturing and that this new gimmick was right up his alley.

"So, if you dig down and really pull out a part of your personality and amplify it, and really lean into it and, just regardless of what anybody says, just cram it down people's throats, you will get engagement. I'm happy to see, I'll call it... Jack Perry is maturing before our very eyes. The Scapegoat, I think it's right up his alley... he will lean into that," Jeff Jarrett said. [From 07:51 to 08:32]

Currently, the Scapegoat is gunning for the vacant TNT Championship as he has qualified for the ladder match to crown the new champion, which will take place at the month's end at Forbidden Door. It remains to be seen whether he joins his stablemates in holding championship gold.
