Tony Khan gives a major update on Sting's future after his shocking appearance at AEW All In 2024
Sting made a shocking appearance at AEW All In 2024. Now, Tony Khan has provided an update regarding his future with the company.
Sting joined AEW a few years ago. He wrestled primarily in tag team action after forming a successful partnership with Darby Allin. Together, the two of them remained unbeaten as a pair. Unfortunately, The Icon decided to call time on his career, earlier this year and retired after his farewell match at AEW Revolution 2024.
The WCW legend made a surprising return at AEW All In in London last month to save his former tag team partner, Darby Allin, from being set on fire by Jack Perry and The Young Bucks. This sudden appearance caused a lot of fans to wonder about the status of The Icon.
During the media call for AEW All Out, Tony Khan provided a major update and confirmed that despite retirement, The Icon was still part of AEW. He also mentioned that the company would be honored to have the legend whenever they could.
Paul Wight wants to retire like Sting in AEW
Sting had a stellar wrestling career but he also had a great farewell from the business. Unlike most wrestlers, The Icon got to go out, while being at the top of the industry as AEW World Tag Team Champion. He also got to retire undefeated in Tony Khan's promotion. Now another wrestling legend has spoken about wanting a similar goodbye.
During an interview with Downunder The Ring, Paul 'The Big Show' Wight said that he wanted to retire like The Icon had in AEW. He also showed interest in wanting to wrestle some of the younger talent in the locker room.
“I kind of wanna go out like Sting did. Have a nice little run. Have some great matches, work with some of this amazing, young talent we have in AEW and then, slide out,” he said. [H/T Post Wrestling]
Paul Wight hasn't wrestled since November last year and, given his age, it remains to be seen if he will be able to have a fairytale end like The Icon did.
