Tony Khan got “really mad” at WCW veteran for calling AEW performer “some chick”
Tony Khan was upset after a former WCW Veteran called an AEW star "some chick." The star being discussed is Konnan. The 60-year-old veteran performed in WCW for nearly five years and wrestled in prominent promotions like WWE, ECW, TNA, and AAA.
He hosts a podcast with former star Disco Inferno called 'Keeping It 100.' He has also been a producer for AAA since 2019. AEW and AAA often work together and do crossovers with the respective wrestlers on both promotions. Konnan has also been criticizing Tony Khan regarding his shows on his podcast.
During one instance, Tay Melo was supposed to appear on AAA. However, Tony wanted to pull her out of the show. She was supposed to be another star's replacement on short notice. While describing the incident on his podcast, Konnan didn't reveal the star's name, on behalf of which Melo was pulled and called the unrevealed name 'some chick.'
On the latest edition of his Keeping It 100 Official podcast, Konnan revealed that the AEW President was 'mad' for calling the female star that name.
"Tony got really, really mad about this and I can’t even believe he got mad," he said. (09:41 - 09:45)
Konnan then explained that he didn't mention the star's name because he thought Tony Khan wouldn't want to reveal it.
“I was thinking to myself, you’ve got so many girls but you’re going to use her.. okay. And then I said on the podcast, I go ‘some chick got (COVID)’ because I’m pretty sure he didn’t want me to say the name. And when he saw me, he goes, ‘What do you mean some chick?’ Like, oh give me a break, dude. So, would you rather have had me say the name? It’s not being disrespectful. If you say ‘chick’ I think they know what you mean. ‘Hey, that’s a hot chick,’ is that disrespectful?’" [H/T - F4WOnline]
Konnan says MJF used Tony Khan as a leverage
MJF returned to Double or Nothing 2024 pay-per-view after six months of absence. The Wolf of Wrestling then announced that he had re-signed with AEW.
Speaking on Keeping It 100 Official, the 60-year-old star revealed MJF used Khan as leverage to get a better deal.
"Let me tell you what MJF brilliantly did, no matter how much he got paid. He used AEW and Tony Khan week after week," Konnan said.
It will be interesting to see if the relationship between AEW and AAA alters after Konnan's statements.
