Tony Khan hopes to have a historic match in AEW: "At some point, it would be great"
The AEW President and CEO, Tony Khan, reflected on the possibility of having a first-time-ever match in his promotion. Khan also listed what he needs to make that historic match possible.
It can't be denied that Tony Khan has revolutionized professional wrestling with the introduction of AEW back in 2019. Khan also introduced a more brutal version of the popular version of the "War Games" match and named it "Blood and Guts". For the past few years, the 'Blood and Guts' match has been a tradition every year and is set to happen this year as well. However, a women's version has yet to take place.
Tony Khan also reflected on the possibility of a first-ever women's Blood and Guts match with the event just around the corner. Speaking on the Battleground Podcast recently, Khan expressed his thoughts on having a women's Blood and Guts match at some point:
“At some point, it would be great to have a women’s Blood & Guts match. I think you need a lot of people tied in on [the] story and a lot of healthy people. We have a great roster that we’re building up, and I think our women’s roster is stronger than it’s ever been right now today. And I’m really excited about that. So if we ever get to the point where we’ve got enough people tied together and the story makes sense, I think it would be great.” [H/T PWMania]
Tony Khan announced a huge match for AEW Dynamite
The AEW President, Tony Khan, surprisingly announced the marquee match between MJF and Will Ospreay for the International Championship next week on Dynamite. The match was made official after the animosity between the two men reached a boiling point, and they called each other out this past week.
Moreover, MJF turned heel last week on Dynamite, and while explaining his actions on Collision, he called out Will Ospreay, which led to the match between the two. What transpires next Wednesday on Dynamite remains to be seen.
