Tony Khan makes a massive AEW WrestleDream announcement involving Ricochet
AEW President Tony Khan announced a major multi-man match for the former WWE Superstar, Ricochet at the upcoming WrestleDream pay-per-view. The match was made after the events on Dynamite this week.
This past Wednesday on the five-year anniversary episode of Dynamite, Ricochet challenged Will Ospreay for the AEW International Championship. The highly- athletic bout ended in a draw as both men's shoulders were down during the pinfall. Nonetheless, Tony Khan ordered that the match continue.
However, the match still didn't come to a conclusion as Konosuke Takeshita showed up out of nowhere and attacked both Ospreay and Ricochet. The title match ended in a no contest which led to the announcement of a three-way match at the upcoming WrestleDream pay-per-view.
After what happened on Dynamite, Tony Khan took to the X/Twitter social media platform to address the situation. Khan announced that Will Ospreay will defend the International Title against both Ricochet and Konosuke Takeshita in a three-way match at the WrestleDream pay-per-view next week. Khan wrote the following in his post:
"#AEWWrestleDream ppv, Next Saturday, 10/12Tacoma, WA, AEW International Title @WillOspreay vs @KingRicochet vs @Takesoup With the AEW International Title picture unsettled tonight's #AEWDynamite Anniversary, the championship will be decided in a huge 3-way at WrestleDream!"
Veteran compared Tony Khan's recent signing with Rey Mysterio
Former WCW veteran, Konnan recently claimed that Tony Khan's recent signing, Ricochet is the next Rey Mysterio, applauding his decision to leave WWE speaking on the K100 podcast recently:
"I always said he's the next Rey Mysterio. Don't think he had that opportunity to be that [in WWE]. So if he goes out and becomes a proven draw, then I think that's a good move for Ricochet. He hit the glass ceiling, I feel, in WWE."
Konnan also stated that Ricochet hit the ceiling in WWE before leaving. Only time will tell what big things are in store for The Future of Flight in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
