Tony Khan makes a massive announcement on Mercedes Mone's (fka Sasha Banks) immediate AEW future

AEW President Tony Khan has made a huge announcement regarding current TBS Champion Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks). Mone is set to defend her title against a former Women's World Champion next week.

Mercedes Mone made her AEW in-ring debut at the 2024 Double or Nothing pay-per-view a few months ago and won the TBS Title by defeating Willow Nightingale. She has successfully defended her title on multiple occasions since then. The CEO was all set to defend her gold against Dr. Britt Baker at All In 2024, but she would now need to overcome a significant obstacle on her path to England.

On the latest episode of Collision, former AEW Women's World Champion Hikaru Shida challenged Mone for the TBS Title during her promo. Later, Tony Khan took to X/Twitter to make the match official for Dynamite next week. Khan revealed that the bout between Shida and The CEO will be for the TBS Championship, and the winner will defend the gold against Dr. Britt Baker at All In 2024.

WWE Hall of Famer criticized the promo skills of Mercedes Mone

WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff recently spoke about Mercedes Mone's promo skills. On his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff said the following about The CEO:

"For some reason, Mercedes Mone, previously Sasha Banks, feels like she’s great—she’s a great promo. One of the reasons I never heard her do promos in WWE is that WWE knew better. She cannot carry a promo; she should never be allowed to open her mouth."

Mone has established herself as a top star in AEW following her arrival. She recently combined forces with Kamille, and the duo is aiming to dominate the women's division.
