Tony Khan officially announces first-time-ever AEW match for Ricochet against returning star
According to a new announcement from Tony Khan, Ricochet will wrestle a top AEW name for the first time in the Jacksonville-based promotion. The latter is none other than Sammy Guevara.
The Spanish God made his return from suspension and to in-ring action in Ring of Honor (ROH) just over a month ago. He has already found success within the short period he has been back, winning the ROH World Tag Team Championship from The Undisputed Kingdom alongside Dustin Rhodes, formerly known as Goldust, on AEW Collision last month. However, Guevara has not appeared on Dynamite since defeating Ricky Starks on the Homecoming 2024 episode of the Wednesday-night show earlier this year.
Ricochet, on the other hand, made his much-anticipated All Elite debut at All In 2024. Despite failing to win the Casino Gauntlet Match at Wembley Stadium, The Future of Flight had a successful outing in his first Dynamite bout on August 28, 2024, against Kyle Fletcher.
It was recently announced by AEW President Tony Khan that Ricochet will square off against Sammy Guevara for the first time in the Jacksonville-based promotion on the September 11, 2024, episode of Dynamite. This may be the first time the two decorated high-flyers will lock horns since 2017.
"Tomorrow, 9/11 Lexington, KY Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite TBS, 8pm ET/7pm CT @sammyguevara vs @KingRicochet 2 of pro wrestling's top high-flying stars will fight 1-on-1 when red hot Sammy Guevara returns to Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite to face the sensational Ricochet TOMORROW!" Tony Khan shared.

It remains to be seen if The Human Highlight Reel will be able to put away the former TNT Champion in their match on Dynamite.
Ricochet could be poised for a rivalry with Will Ospreay in AEW
Ricochet's debut in All Elite Wrestling has opened up the prospect of innumerable dream matches, pitting the 35-year-old star against the best of the Tony Khan-led promotion. However, fans are undoubtedly most excited to see The Highlight of The Night take on his former rival, Will Ospreay.
The Aerial Assassin had been open about his desire to face Ricochet once again before the latter arrived in All Elite Wrestling. Ospreay was confronted by the Illinois native backstage following his barnburner of a title match against PAC over the AEW International Championship at All Out 2024. The Commonwealth Kingpin challenged Ricochet to step up and pick up more wins, which the latter promised to oblige.
The interaction between Will Ospreay and Ricochet at All Out 2024 could be understood as a hint that the two stars may soon go toe-to-toe on AEW programming.
