Tony Khan officially announces former WWE stars' first-time-ever match in AEW

AEW President Tony Khan announced a major match between two former WWE stars. Although they have had a number of matches in the past, the two will face each other for the first time in the Jacksonville-based promotion.

Ricochet and Claudio Castagnoli (fka Cesaro) are the former WWE stars in question. The Future of Flight and The King of Swing have been in the ring together several times in the Stamford-based promotion. The two have also had multiple matches on the independent wrestling scene.

However, Claudio and Ricochet have yet to square off against each other ever since Rico made his AEW debut earlier this year at All in 2024. Meanwhile, a match between the two has officially been announced. Both are participating in the Gold League of Continental Classic 2024.

AEW President Tony Khan recently took to the Twitter/X social media platform to officially announce the Gold League bout between Ricochet and Cesaro, which will take place this Wednesday on Dynamite.

Khan wrote the following in his post:

"Continental Classic Gold League @KingRicochet vs @ClaudioCSRO C2 Gold League Ricochet vs Claudio 1-on-1! LIVE coast-to-coast on TBS Thanksgiving Eve 8pm ET/5pm PT THIS WEDNESDAY."

Tony Khan also announced two more matches for AEW Continental Classic

The AEW Continental Classic 2024 Tournament will kick off this Wednesday on Dynamite. In addition to Ricochet vs. Claudio Castagnoli, two more Gold League matches have been announced for this week.

Tony Khan officially announced the bout between two long-time rivals, Darby Allin and Brody King, for this Wednesday. Furthermore, the absolute dream match between Mark Briscoe and Shelton Benjamin will also take place this week.

Moreover, the Blue League of the Continental Classic is expected to kick off on Collision this Saturday. Only time will tell who eventually wins the tournament and becomes the Continental Champion this year.
