Tony Khan officially announces huge match involving former WWE star for AEW Dynamite
AEW President Tony Khan announced a former WWE star's match for Dynamite this week against a rising star. The match will take place as part of the Continental Classic tournament.
The former WWE star in question is Shelton Benjamin. The Gold Standard made his AEW debut in October as a business partner of MVP and later formed The Hurt Syndicate alongside Bobby Lashley as well. Shelton has competed in a number of singles matches on TV since his debut including a bout against Swerve Strickland in which he suffered his only loss.
Meanwhile, Benjamin is one of the competitors in the ongoing Continental Classic 2024 tournament in the Blue League. Shelton kicked off his campaign in the tournament by defeating Mark Briscoe last week on Dynamite. Meanwhile, The Hurt Syndicate member is set for his second match in the Blue League this week on Dynamite.
AEW President, Tony Khan took to X to announce Shelton Benjamin's next match in the Continental Classic Blue League which will be against Kyle Fletcher this Wednesday on Dynamite. Khan wrote the following in his match announcement:
"This Wednesday, December 4 Fishers, IN, near Indianapolis TBS, 8pm ET/7pm CT Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite Continental Classic Blue League @Sheltyb803 vs @kylefletcherpro The current Top 2 in the C2 Blue League will fight 1-on-1: Shelton Benjamin vs Kyle Fletcher THIS WEDNESDAY!"
Tony Khan recently announced a dream match for the AEW Continental Classic
The AEW Continental Classic 2024 guaranteed some dream matches considering the amazing lineup. For the December 18, edition of Dynamite, Tony Khan has announced in advance that Will Ospreay will take on Darby Allin in the Gold League of the Continental Classic tournament.
Moreover, this will be the first time that Will Ospreay and Darby Allin will face each other in their respective AEW runs. It remains to be seen who ends up winning the Continental Classic this year.
