Tony Khan provides an update on Mercedes Mone's in-ring status ahead of debut match in AEW
Mercedes Mone made her AEW debut last month, but The CEO has yet to compete in a singles match. The former WWE Superstar will make her in-ring debut at the upcoming pay-per-view Double or Nothing 2024. AEW President Tony Khan recently provided an update about her health status.
For those unaware, the former Sasha Banks left WWE in 2022 and later on performed in NJPW. Mone injured her ankle during her match against Willow Nightingale at NJPW/World Wonder Ring Stardom.
The AEW honcho revealed at the Dynasty post-show media scrum that Mercedes Mone would be medically cleared next month and will lock horns with newly-crowned TBS Champion Willow Nightingale at Double or Nothing pay-per-view.
"She’ll [Mercedes Mone] be cleared at Double or Nothing for the singles match, and that was a big part of this, knowing that it has been a major road for her to return from the injury. Now we know Mercedes will challenge for the TBS Title. We do know Mercedes will be out for a full year since she last wrestled, and it will be against Willow, whom she blames for causing the injury, but we know Mercedes will be cleared for in May, just a little over a month at Double or Nothing,” he said.
