Tony Khan could replace Adam Copeland with a returning wrestling legend until he recovers, says former WWE star

Former WWE star, Stevie Richards, recently stated that Tony Khan could replace Adam Copeland with a returning wrestling legend until he recovers. Richards was talking about Gangrel.

At Double or Nothing on May 26, Copeland (fka Edge) squared off against Malakai Black. The House of Black tried to interfere in the match, however, the 50-year-old's former Brood stablemate, Gangrel, surprisingly emerged from within the ring and helped his old friend fight off the heel faction.

In a recent interview with Wrestling Shoot Interview, Stevie Richards heaped praises on Gangrel. He even stated that he hoped Tony Khan would bring in the 55-year-old wrestling legend to replace Adam Copeland until the latter returns from his injury hiatus.

"You wanna talk about guys that are like timeless wonders, Gangrel works the same as he did when I used to work him back on heat, metal, jacked, and all the stuff in the 90s in WWE when I first got there. He's one of the most intense and one of the most underrated workers and people in the business," said Richards.

Richards spoke highly of Gangrel, referring to their days of working together in the Stamford-based promotion, and praised the latter's work ethic. He called the veteran one of the most "underrated workers" in the pro wrestling business.

He also spoke of the fine wrestling school the 55-year-old runs in South Florida, where he teaches a new generation of wrestlers to hone their skills. Richards also noted that being back on regular television would be a huge boost for his wrestling school and hoped Tony Khan made the veteran an offer to replace Adam Copeland, while he is away recovering.

"He's really a great guy. He has a great wrestling school in South Florida. He teaches the next generation. And the only thing that I feel bad because him being on TV on a consistent basis will help his school business out and he should have a job. So hopefully Tony Khan uses him to replace Adam in the meantime until Adam gets back," he said. [From 1:24:45 to 1:25:29]

AEW replaces Adam Copeland with MJF

Adam Copeland was featured on this year's AEW All In official poster. However, given the injury he sustained at Double or Nothing, he won't be able to make it to the pay-per-view event. Therefore, the Jacksonville-based company replaced him with MJF on the new All In poster.

The Salt of the Earth returned to action at Double or Nothing 2024 after being away from the company for almost six months. He recently squared off with Rush and is scheduled to take on Hechicero at Forbidden Door this weekend.
