Tony Khan reveals AEW may not have been possible without WWE legend’s involvement

Tony Khan had help from Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson), and others when he laid the foundation of AEW in 2019. He recently revealed that WWE legend Chris Jericho also had a huge hand in the formation of the Jacksonville-based pro wrestling company.

Jericho is a veteran in the pro wrestling business and has worked in several top wrestling promotions, including WWE, WCW, and ECW. He is one of the original signings of the Tony Khan-led promotion and its inaugural world champion.

Tony Khan recently had an interview with Q93, where he talked about Jericho's involvement in the inception of All Elite Wrestling. He said the organization wouldn't have been where it is now without the involvement of The Demo God.

"I don't know if it would have been possible for us to launch AEW without Chris Jericho's involvement. He's been a fixture and a great part of AEW throughout the five years," Khan said. [H/T: Fightful]

Chris Jericho teases his next potential move in AEW

Chris Jericho is currently the leader of The Learning Tree. He was the FTW Champion but lost the gold to HOOK at All In 2024. The veteran recently hinted at his next potential move in the company. He might go after the ROH World Championship, which is currently in Mark Briscoe's possession.

Y2J and his faction members recently took on The Conglomeration (Kyle O'Reilly, Mark Briscoe, and Orange Cassidy) in a six-man tornado tag team match. Jericho was the one who picked up the victory for his side by pinning The Sensei of Redneck Kung-Fu after Big Bill slammed him through a table.

Following the win, Jericho gestured at chasing Briscoe's title. The tag team legend won the Ring of Honor World Championship after defeating Eddie Kingston at ROH Supercard of Honor in April 2024.
