Tony Khan reveals he keeps pictures of late star in his wallet (Exclusive)
AEW President, Tony Khan recently revealed that he carried multiple photos of a late star in his wallet. Khan disclosed that he carries pictures of the late great Jay Briscoe and lavished praise on his brother and current ROH Champion, Mark Briscoe.
Jay's passing in January 2023 in a car crash left fans heartbroken. The former ROH Champion was one of the most decorated stars in the promotion's illustrious history. Since his passing, Mark Briscoe has carried forward his legacy and is the reigning ROH World Champion. He's now gearing up to defend his title against Roderick Strong at the upcoming Death Before Dishonor 2024.
During the media call ahead of the pay-per-view, Arunava Ghoshal of Sportskeeda Wrestling asked Tony Khan about Mark Briscoe's run with the ROH World Championship so far. The AEW President gushed over it and added that as a mark of respect for Jay Briscoe, he always kept a few pictures of him inside his wallet.
Tony Khan regrets he couldn't sign Jay Briscoe to AEW
A few months back, in an interview, Tony Khan expressed his disappointment over being unable to sign Jay Briscoe to AEW when he was still around.
Khan believes Jay was one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and mentioned that he was close with many names on All Elite Wrestling's roster. He regrets never being able to bring his friend to the Jacksonville-based promotion when he was still around.
"Somebody that never got to wrestle in AEW that I also feel very strongly about, who needs to be talked about and honored is Jay Briscoe, who I always wanted to bring into AEW and was my friend and was friends with a lot of people in the locker room and is one of the greatest wrestlers I've ever had the pleasure to work with and produce and Jay Briscoe is somebody else very important to us even though he never really actually got the chance to wrestle in AEW," said Khan.
The Briscoes and FTR had a trilogy in ROH/AEW that is still fresh in fans' memories and considered by many to be among the greatest feuds of all time.
