Tony Khan reveals popular former WWE star is his best friend, not just in AEW, but in the entire world
Following a successful Full Gear pay-per-view last night, AEW President Tony Khan revealed that former WWE star Bryan Danielson is his best friend. The American Dragon has been absent since the WrestleDream event last month.
Bryan Danielson wrestled his final match as a full-time performer at the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view. At the event, Danielson lost his AEW World Title to Jon Moxley, and following the bout, he was attacked by his former BBC stablemates. The American Dragon is reportedly hoping to avoid surgery and go with stem cell treatments to recover from his injuries. Many expect him to return to All Elite Wrestling on a part-time schedule in the future.
At the post-Full Gear media scrum, Tony Khan was asked about Moxley's vision for the future of AEW and how he felt about it. Khan called the former Dean Ambrose an important part of the promotion regardless of how he took out the veteran. TK went on to reveal that Bryan Danielson is his best friend and that he misses working with him.
"Even though Bryan Danielson is probably my best friend in the entire world, the fact is I've worked with Jon Moxley a long time too, and even though I don't agree necessarily with what happened to Bryan Danielson, I miss him every day. I miss working with him every day. Jon Moxley is so great for this business, and we need Jon Moxley. I have to accept what happened," Khan said. [From 01:31:17 to 01:31:43]
AEW World Champion Jon Moxley says Bryan Danielson is one of his best friends
Jon Moxley has known Bryan Danielson for a long time. Both stars were part of Blackpool Combat Club until Moxley's recent heel turn. The former WWE star formed The Death Riders faction with Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, PAC, and Marina Shafir, resulting in BCC's disbanding.
The group's main target was Bryan Danielson, and Jon Moxley succeeded in ending his former best friend's full-time career at AEW WrestleDream last month. In a recent chat with TV Insider, Moxley called Danielson one of his best friends but claimed that he had to be taken out for the better.
"It’s easy to get emotionally attached to a match with Bryan Danielson. One of my best friends and training partners and a guy I’ve been down the literal and proverbial roads with all around the world for years. There was an objective that needed to be completed. He had to be taken off the board as part of the big picture. He was a thing on a checklist. There was no way I was walking out of the building without getting the job done. I don’t have time to feel sad about it."
Moxley and his Death Riders are currently taking over the company. We must wait and see if Bryan Danielson returns to All Elite Wrestling next year to seek revenge on his former stablemates.
