Tony Khan sends cryptic message regarding WBD negotiations ahead of AEW Dynamite

It's a critical year for AEW and Tony Khan, as the young promotion's contract with network partner Warner Bros. Discovery is set to expire soon. Negotiations are ongoing, and the All Elite President sent out a cryptic message regarding the talks on X today.

Recent reports have indicated that the exclusive negotiating window between AEW and WBD has expired, but the two sides are still trying to hammer out a deal. Tony Khan met with WBD CEO David Zaslav during the Olympics in Paris this week, but it's unclear if the two were able to make headway in negotiations.

Khan took to X today with a positive message regarding their talks. As is custom for the All Elite Chief, he also hyped up this week's Dynamite and promised a hot start to the August lineup for his company's TV shows:

"Thank you Mr. David Zaslav + @WBD for having me in Paris for the trip of a lifetime! It's an exciting time, the future's very bright for @AEW! TOMORROW on TBS Don't miss Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite, we had an epic run of Wednesdays in July, and we'll start August hot TOMORROW!"

Tony Khan addresses meeting with Shane McMahon

The wrestling world was shocked last week when a photo emerged of AEW President Tony Khan and former WWE Superstar Shane McMahon in a private meeting. Shane has not been involved with WWE since last year, but the idea of Vince McMahon's son joining a rival promotion was a hot topic among wrestling fans.

Shane McMahon addressed the meeting in a recent statement, and Tony Khan has now provided his own comments on the subject. Speaking on ESPN's Sedano & Kap Show, the AEW President said:

"We had a really nice talk; I really enjoyed visiting with him. Clearly, there was a lot of interest in it. Somebody, while talking at an airport conference room, just busted in, I guess, and took a photo. [laughs] I think that's fine, and I enjoyed the conversation. There's nothing wrong with a couple people getting together to talk wrestling. That's part of what makes wrestling so great. There's a lot to talk about, we're all fans at heart."

Shane McMahon's first contact with AEW reportedly happened by accident as he and Mercedes Mone bumped into each other at an airport not long ago. Whether the former WWE star signs with All Elite Wrestling remains to be seen.
