Tony Khan shares his thoughts on Bryan Danielson getting betrayed by his best friends in AEW
AEW CEO Tony Khan recently opened up about Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli's heartbreaking betrayal of Bryan Danielson. The Amercian Dragon is set to defend his World Title against Moxley at WrestleDream.
Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli turned on Bryan at AEW All Out, where the former WWE star suffocated Danielson with a plastic bag, which kept him out of action for several weeks. The American Dragon returned last week on Grand Slam edition of Dynamite to face Nigel McGuinness. Later on the show, the champion attacked Jon Moxley, who defeated Darby Allin to earn a World title shot at the upcoming pay-per-view.
In a recent chat on The Rockers Morning Show, All Elite CEO Tony Khan spoke about Bryan Danielson's status for the fifth anniversary of Dynamite this coming Wednesday. Khan noted how Bryan is looking for revenge after chocking out Jon Moxley at the Grand Slam. He also teased some surprises for Dynamite and encouraged the fans to stay tuned.
"I can not wait to get the AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson back out there after he returned last week on Grand Slam. So great to see Bryan Danielson again. It was the first time we had seen Bryan since he was betrayed by Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli, his best friends, and ahead of AEW WrestleDream, you better believe that Bryan Danielson is gonna be at this anniversary show. He's got a lot on his mind and I think he's looking for a fight and there's a lot to come this Wednesday night on that anniversary show. So, I would definitely recommend everybody stay tuned. It's a great time in AEW right now and we've a lot to celebrate this Wednesday on TBS." [From 07:30 to 08:15]
AEW stars are provoking Tony Khan, according to Vince Russo
AEW doesn't shy away from presenting a controversial product to the fans, which involves brutal spots, bloody segments, and potentially unsafe maneuvers in the squared circle. The company was recently in hot waters after the Unsanctioned Cage Match between Swerve Strickland and Hangman Adam Page at All Out.
In a recent edition of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, Vince Russo questioned whether the talent is purposely doing these dangerous spots to see if Tony Khan would say no to them.
"Could they just be throwing all kinds of crazy cr*p out there to kind of see if Tony Khan will say no to anything? I mean seriously. Are they like in the back, 'Okay bro I am gonna shoot this pastor, we're gonna use this syringe...' Are they doing this to see if Tony Khan says no to anything?" [From 03:05 onwards]
Tony Khan has not addressed the backlash from the brutal All Out Cage Match. It will be interesting to see if the All Elite honcho breaks silence on the backlash.
