Tony Khan was tricked by AEW stars, says Vince Russo after recent actions (Exclusive)
Former WWE writer Vince Russo recently shared his belief that Tony Khan's recent actions may have been the result of AEW stars "ribbing" him in a good way.
Tony Khan recently became more involved in an on-screen storyline, as he was attacked by Jack Perry and the other members of The Elite. This led to a kayfabe neck injury, which Tony has decided to stay true to even outside of AEW. He was recently seen at the NFL draft with a neckbrace on.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, Vince Russo stated that he already knew this was going to happen. He said:
"I swear I knew this was gonna happen. And you know how the boys rib everybody. Bro you know what today was right? The NFL draft. He is wearing a neck brace at the NFL draft. And you know the boys told him, 'Tony, you gotta...' Bro he is at the chicken wing table with Jerry Jones, explaining to Jerry Jones why he is walking around with a neckbrace because a wrestler dropped him on his head." [From 04:35 onwards]
WWE veteran is quite sure that the neckbrace was not the AEW President's idea
According to Vince Russo, Tony Khan may have been the victim of a good-natured prank by the top AEW stars.
On the same episode of The Wrestling Outlaws, EC3 questioned Vince regarding Tony Khan's decision to wear a neck brace. The former head writer of WWE explained that although he may be wrong about the AEW CEO, it was likely that it was a joke by other stars.
"I would have to believe they ribbed him, but I could be totally wrong. But my god, like he is walking around the NFL owners with a freaking, can you imagine how they are looking at this freaking d**fus bro?" [From 06:43 onwards]
As of now, it remains to be seen how the angle plays out in the coming weeks.
