Tony Khan urged to use disgruntled AEW stars amid strong rumors of a move to WWE

WCW veteran Konnan recently urged AEW President Tony Khan to use two prominent names on TV. The duo is rumored to join WWE soon.

The AEW stars in question are Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix. The Lucha Bros are currently absent from TV as they have not been booked in any notable storylines for the past several months. A recent report indicated that the tandem was frustrated with its role in the company's programming. Meanwhile, it has also been reported that they could sign with WWE once their contracts expire.

A recent report indicated that the Tony Khan-led promotion was looking to add injury time to Rey Fenix's contract, which was set to conclude soon. On the latest edition of the Keepin' It 100 podcast, Konnan urged Khan to use The Lucha Bros. on All Elite Wrestling TV to put over other talents.

"You have no idea how many complaints I hear about that, and I'll give you one good example. Have you seen Pentagon and [Rey] Fenix like in the last month or so? They're still getting paid, bro. If you're gonna pay them that type of money, use them on the way out to put people over." [2:42 - 2:57]

Konnan says Tony Khan is paying people to stay at home

Over the past few years, there have been many instances in AEW where performers have been paid without being used on TV. Konnan believes that Tony Khan is protecting his pride and that the Jacksonville-based organization's talents are being paid for doing nothing.

On the same edition of Keepin' It 100, the WCW veteran said the following about Khan's booking of specific stars:

"Bro, let me tell you, Tony, he's very prideful, he doesn't want it to seem like everybody's gonna leave and he pays all these people so many people (...) just to stay at home or come to the show and do nothing." [2:28 - 2:41]

All Elite Wrestling recently presented the Grand Slam editions of Dynamite and Collision. The promotion is now preparing for the fifth anniversary of its Wednesday night program and the 2024 WrestleDream pay-per-view.
