Tony Khan welcomes AEW star back following in-ring return after 2 years: "Worth the wait"
AEW CEO Tony Khan recently welcomed back a major star to his company's women's division. The star is none other than Penelope Ford.
On the October 26th edition of AEW Collision, Penelope Ford made her in-ring return to the promotion after two years of absence. Ford faced Robyn Renegade in her first match back. The star tapped her opponent out with the Muta Lock to emerge victorious. Penelope's last All Elite Wrestling match was at Dark: Elevation in October 2022.
On X (formerly known as Twitter), Tony Khan welcomed Penelope Ford back to All Elite Wrestling. He also hyped up her upcoming Dynamite match against Jamie Hayter on November 6.
"Welcome back to AEW @thePenelopeFord! It’s been over 2 years, but it’s worth the wait to have Penelope back wrestling on @TNTdrama live tonight! Very excited for Penelope Ford vs @jmehytr Wednesday, 11/6 on #AEWDynamite!"
Mark Henry recalls pushing Tony Khan to sign a top WWE star to AEW
All Elite Wrestling has signed many major WWE talents in the past few years like Ricochet, Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, and more. MVP and Shelton Benjamin recently showed up in the Jacksonville-based promotion and formed The Hurt Syndicate.
In a recent edition of the Busted Open podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry revealed that on the day of Shelton Benjamin's release, he told Tony Khan to sign the veteran to All Elite Wrestling. Henry further heaped praise on The Gold Standard.
"The first day that Shelton got let go, I went to Tony, and I said, 'Tony, you got to pick him in. Bring him in. Let me work with him. Anything. He's the guy. Nothing happened. I'm glad that they've seen the error of their ways and they got him on board. Shelton is special, you've got to use him like he's special. It's only going to be good for everybody in the long run."
Shelton Benjamin is set to face Swerve Strickland at Fright Night Dynamite this Wednesday. We will have to wait and see how this match turns out.
