"Tony obviously didn't get the joke" - WWE Veteran on Matt Riddle's bizarre interaction with the AEW boss (Exclusive)

WWE veteran Vince Russo recently shared his thoughts on Matt Riddle's interaction with AEW CEO Tony Khan. Riddle parted ways with the WWE last year.

The Original Bro recently revealed his brief exchange with Tony Khan after his match against Zack Sabre Jr. at NJPW Windy City Riot in April. Matt Riddle revealed that he asked Tony if he liked his match with Zack but the AEW boss seemed confused. Riddle acknowledged that he might have asked the question in a different tone which seemingly didn't sit well with Khan.

Speaking to Dr. Chris in the recent edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Outlaws, Vince Russo said that he hopes Tony Khan has a great sense of humor and didn't take Riddle's comments too seriously in Japan.

"We kinda talk about this all the time and it's kinda just one of the issues I have with the marks. Bro, they lack a sense of humor. I don't know what it is about wrestling marks and when they attempt humor, it folds so that's probably why they don't do it Tony [Khan] obviously didn't get the joke. So I'm just wondering if Tony is one of these guys that when it comes to wrestling, I don't know bro I don't know him personally but I just hope he's not one of these guys that just takes everything so freaking seriously." Jim Ross wants Tony Khan to sign Matt Riddle to AEW

AEW veteran commentator Jim Ross recently addressed Matt Riddle potentially joining All Elite Wrestling. The Original Bro recently revealed that after having a brief conversation with Tony Khan, it didn't seem like he wanted to bring him to the Jacksonville-based promotion.

In a recent edition of his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross praised Matt Riddle and called him a talented wrestler. However, he understands if Tony Khan does not want Riddle in AEW due to his behavior issues.

“I don’t know if there’s an opportunity there or not. If they decided, I would suggest that he’d be given a shot. I understand Tony’s reluctance because Matt has a little baggage. How much that baggage weighs, I don’t know, but I know he’s a very talented kid, got a great look. He’s got that Kevin Von Erich look. He wrestles barefoot. I’ll never say never, I don’t know that it’s even on the drawing board, have no idea, that’s a Tony Khan thing, not nothing I’m involved in. Whatever Tony Khan does, I’ll do my best to make it work in my role,” he said. [H/T Fightful]

It will be interesting to see if Tony Khan gives Matt Riddle a chance and brings him to the Jacksonville-based promotion in the future.
