"Tony, why are you doing this?" - Fans urge Tony Khan to end major AEW storyline following huge announcement
AEW is the land of factions. Some of the most dominant ones in the company right now are The Death Riders, The Learning Tree, The Hurt Syndicate, House of Black, and more.
The Death Riders consist of reigning AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Marina Shafir. The stable is currently locked in a feud with Rated FTR (Cash Wheeler, Dax Harwood, and Cope). On this week's Dynamite: Maximum Carnage, the former Dean Ambrose will defend his title against Powerhouse Hobbs.
Later, on Collision: Maximum Carnage, The Death Riders and The Learning Tree will team up and take on Rated FTR and the trio of Powerhouse Hobbs and The Outrunners (Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd) in a 12-man tag team match. Tony Khan recently announced this 12-man tag team match on X (Twitter).
Many questioned this decision and urged the AEW President to stop booking unnecessary matches.
Eric Bischoff claims that AEW CEO Tony Khan lacks wrestling knowledge
For the past few years, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff has been quite vocal about All Elite Wrestling and the way Tony Khan runs the company. In a recent edition of his 83 Weeks podcast, the veteran claimed that the Jacksonville-based company's owner is a product of nepotism and isn't educated enough to do what he is doing.
"Tony's a wrestling fan who bought his way into the wrestling business. Tony bought his way in, and there's nothing wrong with that; if I had a rich dad I would have bought my way in, too. When I say Tony doesn't know what he needs to know about producing wrestling, it's not because I'm an old man screaming at the clouds, it's because it's a fact. He doesn't know what he doesn't know," he said. [H/T: TOI]
It will be interesting to see if Khan responds to the latest criticism from fans in the coming days.
