Top AEW star needed to be humiliated on live TV to get more heat in major storyline, feels Disco Inferno
Former WCW veteran Disco Inferno stated that a top AEW star needed to be humiliated in order to generate more heat in an ongoing feud. The shocking angle took place last week on Dynamite.
The top AEW star in question is Kyle Fletcher. Last week on Dynamite, Kyle showed up to explain why he betrayed Will Ospreay and cost him the International Title at WrestleDream. Fletcher said everyone compares him to Ospreay, so he partially shaved his head to not look like Ospreay anymore.
Meanwhile, former WCW veteran Disco Inferno felt that Will Ospreay should've shaved Kyle Fletcher's head to get more heat in their ongoing feud. Speaking on the K100 podcast, Disco stated the following:
"The gimmick should've been alright Ospreay like okay he says we look alike or whatever okay? So they do a gimmick where now Ospreay comes to TV next week, they beat him down, they pull the hair clippers out, 'We're going to shave your head because we don't want you to look anything like Kyle Fletcher,' Ospreay fights back grabs the clippers and shaves Kyle Fletcher's head."
Disco further continued:
"Now, I mean like nobody thought of that? If you're gonna shave the guy's head, the guy shaved his own head, I'm like come on man you would've gotten more mileage out of doing that other way. [...] Under every circumstance, Ospreay should've shaved his [Fletcher] head to build up more heat in the feud instead of the guy shaving his own head like where's the heat now?" [1:47 - 3:01]
AEW star called out Will Ospreay for Dynamite next week
AEW star Kyle Fletcher appeared with his new look in a backstage segment on Collision last Saturday. During his promo, Fletcher invited Will Ospreay to meet him face-to-face next Wednesday on Fright Night Dynamite.
Kyle called himself The ProtoStar and also laid down a challenge for any up-and-coming wrestler for this Saturday on Collision.
