Top AEW star plants the seeds for a blockbuster intergender match against Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio is a WWE veteran and has been in the pro wrestling business for decades. Top AEW star Mercedes Mone wants to have an intergender wrestling match with the Hall of Famer.
The CEO took on Kris Statlander in a singles match at Full Gear on November 23. She won the contest to retain her TBS Championship.
Ahead of her match at Full Gear, Mone had an interview with Ginger Vision House, where she was asked to name her dream opponents. She picked Trish Stratus, Mickie James, and Manami Toyota. The TBS Champion also mentioned that her dream intergender match would be against Rey Mysterio.
"There's so many. My number one dream opponent would be Manami Toyota, if I could wrestle her from the '90 or '92 my head would probably be kicked off to the 10th row, but I would give up my all. I think she is one of the greatest women's wrestlers of all time. So that would be a dream match for me. I'd also say Trish Stratus is a dream match for me. Mickie James. I love Mickie James. If I have to choose a guy wrestler, I would love to wrestle Rey Mysterio." [H/T: Fightful]
Mysterio is currently a WWE star, and Mone is signed to AEW. But a match between them is still possible. The Master of the 619 has worked on the independent circuit for years and may lock horns with The CEO outside of the global juggernaut.
AEW star Mercedes Mone names her Mount Rushmore of Boston pro wrestlers
During her interview with Ginger Vision House, Mercedes Mone was also asked to disclose her Mount Rushmore of pro wrestlers who hail from Boston. She named some prominent stars but added that her top pick was herself.
"That's gonna be hard. There's a lot of people. I mean, we are talking about Killer Kowalski, Triple H, John Cena, Kofi Kingston, Mercedes Mone, Carmelo Hayes, Tommaso Ciampa. I mean, I can just keep going on and on and on and on (...) So I can't do a Mount Rushmore because if I did, then it would be Sasha Banks, Mercedes KV, and Mercedes Mone, and the fourth one would probably be John Cena," Mone said.
The AEW star was born in Fairfield, California. However, The CEO's family later settled in Boston, where she started her pro wrestling career.
