Top AEW star points out how Tony Khan is different from Triple H or Vince McMahon
A major AEW star recently revealed how he felt Tony Khan was different from Triple H or Vince McMahon. The star being discussed is Bryan Danielson.
The American Dragon is one of the biggest names Tony Khan signed in 2021. He has been involved in top storylines and delivering top-notch matches in the Jacksonville-based promotion since then. He will also be main-eventing All In London this year against Swerve Strickland for the AEW Men's World Championship.
The 43-year-old star has worked in many companies before making a name for himself in WWE. He had a good run in the Stamford-based promotion under Vince McMahon's leadership. He recently compared his previous bosses to Tony Khan and heaped praise for the latter. It is evident that the duo seem to share a special bond as Tony sometimes consults Bryan regarding major decisions.
While speaking on the Gorilla Position, Bryan Danielson revealed Tony Khan was 'super kind.' He also said he was on good terms with Vince McMahon and Triple H during his WWE stint, but Tony's kindness differentiated him from the others.
“Tony's super kind. He's a super kind human being and I haven't had a boss like that. I had a great relationship with Vince and with Hunter and when I was in Ring of Honor, I had a great relationship with Gabe Sapolsky. None of them were particularly kind. You know what I mean, like they don't, you know, in the sense of like, treating everyone nicely, like all that kind of stuff, and that's been really refreshing,” he said. [43:56 - 44:32]
Tony Khan wants Bryan Danielson to finish his career in AEW
Bryan Danielson is set to retire from AEW as a full-time wrestler later this year. He was signed to the company in 2021.
Speaking on CBS Sports, the AEW President revealed that he would want Bryan to finish his career in AEW, no matter what role he has. From reports online, Bryan seems to have a role in things other than just performing in the ring. The star reportedly is part of the backstage disciplinary committee and also informally helps Tony with creative decisions.
"I would like Bryan to stay, in a perfect world, forever here in whatever capacity he'd stay with us in. I'd hope that Bryan would finish his wrestling career here. I would do anything to make that happen. I want Bryan to stay with us wrestling as long as possible," he said.
It remains to be seen when the 2024 Owen Hart Cup winner will hang up his boots as a full-time star and if he will continue as a part-time wrestler.
