Top AEW star says he didn't want to stay with WWE anymore after contract expired; takes a dig at Triple H

A top AEW star who recently exited WWE has opened up on his departure from the company. It appears all is not well between him and WWE CCO Triple H, as he took a shot at the latter.

MVP's second run in WWE started on a good note. He formed The Hurt Business along with Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and Cedric Alexander. However, after a little over a year together, the group disbanded much to the disappointment of the WWE Universe. On June 27, 2022, World Wrestling Entertainment underwent a major shift in leadership after Triple H took over creative control of the company following the retirement of Vince McMahon amid various allegations against the latter.

While McMahon did return a few months later to sell the company, Triple H remained in charge of the creative direction of the promotion. Under The Game's leadership, there was a shift in the roster as some of the stars who were on top during Vince's period found themselves involved in lackluster booking situations. Two of these stars included MVP and Bobby Lashley.

While MVP wanted to reunite The Hurt Business, the new management wasn't interested in the idea. He spent a brief period as Omos' manager but that didn't work out too well and he was off TV for a considerable period before eventually leaving the promotion earlier this year.

During a recent interview with Drop The Heat, MVP said that he didn't want to re-sign with WWE because when new management comes in, it's good for some people and bad for other people. He also took a shot at Triple H by saying that the new management wasn't for him and he wasn't for The Game.

“This time, I didn’t want to re-sign and I let it be known that I wasn’t going to re-sign because the new management in place — anytime, I don’t care where you work, when new management comes in, it’s good for some people and not for other people. New people come in, old people go. So I just felt that it was definitely time to go because the new management just wasn’t for me and I ain’t for him [laughs]," he said. [H/T Fightful]

MVP formed The Hurt Syndicate in AEW

MVP made his debut with All Elite Wrestling during AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam a few weeks ago and interrupted Prince Nana. He also offered his managerial services to Swerve Strickland.

On the fifth anniversary episode of Dynamite, Shelton Benjamin joined him in the Jacksonville-based promotion. The two of them confronted Swerve and Prince Nana at WrestleDream and were a bit disappointed when the former AEW World Champion rejected MVP's offer.

After seeing MVP and Shelton Benjamin together, fans were eagerly anticipating the debut of Bobby Lashley which finally took place on the October 30 episode of Dynamite. The All Mighty assaulted Swerve and laid him out in the ring. This marked the beginning of The Hurt Syndicate in Tony Khan's promotion.

Bobby Lashley will make his in-ring debut for AEW at Full Gear 2024 when he squares off against Swerve Strickland in singles competition.
