Top AEW star shouldn’t be the one to dethrone Swerve Strickland, says WWE analyst
A WWE personality believes a top star shouldn't win the AEW World Championship from Swerve Strickland. The star being discussed is "Hangman" Adam Page.
The Realest star has been holding the AEW World Championship for 93 days. So far, he has defended the championship against Christian Cage, Will Ospreay, Roderick Strong, and Claudio Castagnoli. Before winning the title, Swerve had a brief feud with "Hangman" Adam Page.
Their bout from Full Gear 2023 is one of the most talked-about matches of that year. Later, at Revolution pay-per-view, Swerve and Hangman collided again in a triple threat match, in which Samoa Joe defended his championship. Page then took a hiatus from the company from March until July.
The Anxious Millenial Cowboy returned to AEW as a wild card in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. He lost to Bryan Danielson in the finals and also lost the opportunity to face his arch-rival Swerve Strickland at All In.
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Sam Roberts dismissed the idea of Hangman defeating Swerve for the AEW World Championship in the future.
"No, I don't think Hangman should be the one to dethrone Swerve," the WWE analyst said. [01:27:24 - 01:27:30]
They will face each other at the Blood and Guts match on the upcoming Dynamite.
Swerve Strickland to lead Team AEW at Blood and Guts
Mark Briscoe announced himself for Blood and Guts. A couple of weeks ago, Swerve Strickland also inserted himself into the match as the leader of Team AEW.
The Acclaimed and Darby Allin also decided to participate in Team AEW to take on The Elite and "Hangman" Adam Page in the Blood and Guts match.
Only time will tell which team will walk out as the winner of the bout.
