Top AEW star takes brutal dig at Mercedes Mone; says somebody needs to knock her off her "high horse"
AEW star Kris Statlander Kris Statlander has taken a major shot at Mercedes Mone. The CEO is the current TBS Champion.
At AEW Full Gear, Mercedes Mone is set to defend her TBS Championship against Kris Statlander. The former champion looks to dethrone Mone who has been having a dominant run since winning the title in her in-ring debut at Double Or Nothing PPV in May.
In a recent chat on the AEW Unrestricted podcast with Will Washington and Aubrey Edwards, Kris Statlander said she's ready to reclaim her TBS Championship against Mercedes Mone. Statlander claimed that she was the rightful champion and wanted to knock Mone off her throne.
“I’m feeling more ready than ever to reclaim my throne as the TBS Champion. As we all know, Full Gear last year, I lost the title, but never got pinned for the title. I feel like if anything, this past year has really proven that I’m more worthy of a title than ever, especially given the past couple pay-per-views I’ve been very lucky to be a part of. I think it’s about time somebody knocks Mercedes off her high horse to speak because we all know who the rightful champion should be and that’s me.” [H/T: Fightful]
Mercedes Mone is eyeing the AEW Women's World Championship
Mariah May is the current AEW Women's World Champion and she won the title by defeating her former mentor "Timeless" Toni Storm at All In. Mercedes Mone is no stranger to gold as she won the TBS Championship in her in-ring debut for All Elite Wrestling.
In an interview with Uproxx Sports, Mercedes Mone expressed how proud she is of Mariah May and revealed that she's looking at the Women's World Championship around her waist.
“I am super proud to watch from afar,” Mone stated. “She came in as a super fan, just loving wrestling, loved it so much that she moved from England to Japan, trained out in Stardom just to hone her craft, and now she’s here. She is our women’s world champion, beating Toni Storm in one of the best storylines in women’s history. To see her rise this fast and to see how good she is in the ring, it’s so incredible. Like I said, we have the best women’s division in the game right now. I’m definitely looking at the title that she has around her waist,” she said. [H/T Ringside News]
