Top AEW star wouldn’t even be on TV if he was signed with WWE, according to Tommy Dreamer
WWE is known for pushing younger talent over older ones on screen. Therefore, Tommy Dreamer believes that a top AEW star wouldn't be featured on TV if he were to be in the Stamford-based promotion.
The star in question here is Dustin Rhodes. The WWE legend is a veteran in pro wrestling who has been in the business since the late 1980s. In these three decades, he has collected many accolades under his belt.
Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Bully Ray commented on how he'd utilize Dustin in AEW. He said that he would use him in angles that would help push the younger talents in the company.
Reacting to Bully's comments, Tommy Dreamer opined on the matter. He stated that WWE wouldn't give him screen time because of his age.
"I also think Dustin was injured a little bit ... I wouldn't put anyone who's older on television all the time, 'cause then there's backlash. I do feel AEW has used veterans very, very well. There is ageism in WWE. I think if Dustin was in WWE, I don't know if he'd even be on television at all, just because of his age," said Dreamer. [H/T: WrestlingInc]
Bully Ray is not happy with Dustin Rhodes' run in AEW
On one of the recent editions of the Busted Open podcast, Bully Ray spoke about Dustin's run in AEW. He wasn't happy with how Tony Khan was utilizing the former WWE star.
"I think Dustin has been put in a position where he has not been utilized enough, and maybe in his mind now, because he doesn't get utilized, it's like, 'All right, maybe my better days are behind me. Maybe I'm not wanted as much anymore. I would be taking advantage of Dustin, especially just because of the Rhodes name," he said.
The 55-year-old veteran joined All Elite Wrestling in 2019. He is currently in his first reign as the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion alongside Marshall and Ross Von Erich.
