Top star takes a huge dig after Full Gear: "Not everybody that is here and is part of AEW has [its] best interests"
A top AEW star who was recently crowned champion made some interesting comments regarding some of his peers in the Tony Khan-led promotion. The star in question, Daniel Garcia, picked up a massive victory at the Full Gear 2024 Pay-Per-View.
Fans of All Elite Wrestling have for quite some time been waiting for Daniel Garcia to taste championship gold in the promotion. The Red Death finally overcame all odds at Full Gear 2024 by defeating Jack Perry to become the new TNT Champion.
During the official post-show media scrum, Garcia was asked whether he felt like he had definitively emerged as a flagbearer for the Tony Khan-led company following his massive title win. The 26-year-old star responded by claiming that at a time when several individuals in the promotion did not seem to consider its best interests as their priority, stars like him and the Private Party were the people to best represent All Elite Wrestling and its future.
"I feel like that now more than ever we're in a very weird time in [All Elite Wrestling], where there's just a lot of chaos, and it feels like not everybody that is here and is part of AEW has the best interests of AEW in their hearts. So, I feel like having people like me around, people like Private Party around, like, we'll die for this place. I feel like having people like that is very important, so, if anybody else feels like that, I feel like I represent them," Daniel Garcia said.
Daniel Garcia dethroned a member of The Elite at AEW Full Gear 2024
Daniel Garcia's feud with Jack Perry began after the latter and his stable, The Elite, refused to help the All Elite locker room repel the Death Riders, causing the New York native to confront the Scapegoat. The 26-year-old star battled Perry for the TNT Championship at AEW Full Gear 2024, eager to prove the latter wrong about him not being ready to become champion.
Jack tried his best to hold on to his title, weakening his opponent's neck with a powerbomb through a table and even tricking him into taking a low blow behind the referee's back. However, Garcia powered through and mounted a valiant comeback, eventually making Perry tap out with his Dragon Slayer submission move.
It remains to be seen what will be next for Daniel Garcia on All Elite Wrestling programming.
