Top star has a three-word reaction to memorable segment with MJF amid his AEW absence
AEW star Wardlow recently reacted to his memorable segment with MJF on the May 18, 2022 edition of Dynamite. Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been absent from television since the Worlds End pay-per-view in December 2023.
Wardlow is one of the top performers in All Elite Wrestling. He was introduced as MJF's bodyguard in the Jacksonville-based promotion in 2019. However, he turned on Friedman down the road, leading to a great rivalry between both men. Ahead of their match at the Double or Nothing 2022 pay-per-view, The War Dog took 10 lashes from Maxwell during an episode of Dynamite.
On X (Formerly known as Twitter), Wardlow reacted to the clip of the segment. At the pay-per-view, the former TNT Champion squashed Friedman and defeated him to get free from his contractual ties with the former World Champion.
"Good ol days," he wrote.
Eric Bischoff believes MJF's return will not improve the AEW product
MJF has been absent from All Elite Wrestling ever since he lost his World Title to Samoa Joe at the Worlds End pay-per-view. Friedman's contract with the company was set to expire on January 1, 2024, and it is currently unknown whether Friedman has inked a new deal with the company.
Speaking on the Wise Choices podcast, Eric Bischoff explained how MJF's return will not be a turning point for AEW. He noted that the main issue with All Elite Wrestling is on the creative side.
"I don't think MJF is going to take AEW to a whole new level because it's not a talent-driven issue, it's a creative-driven issue," Bischoff said. "I think you could drop The Undertaker into the center of the ring from a helicopter, have him repelled down like Sting did, put him in the center of the ring, and start a program with him in AEW and if Tony Khan is booking it, it's just not going to matter. It's not a talent-driven issue, it's bigger than that." [H/T: WrestlingInc]
MJF is currently healing from his injuries. It will be interesting to see how the company decides to bring him back as the landscape of the promotion has changed since Friedman's injury.
