Triple H's five-year-old comment about AEW's Ricochet is going viral in 2024; maybe not for the right reason
Ricochet used to be a part of Triple H's roster. But this year, he jumped ship and joined Tony Khan's AEW.
The One and Only worked with WWE for around six years. In those six years, he held a bunch of titles like the WWE Intercontinental Championship, the WWE United States Championship, the NXT North American Championship, and the WWE Speed Championship. He left the Stamford-based company on June 30 and made his debut for AEW at All In in London 2024.
The Future of Flight has time and again proven himself inside the squared circle against many tough opponents. But despite his outstanding in-ring talents, his promo skills have always been considered subpar.
In January 2019, Triple H did an interview with Inside The Ropes, where he commented about Mr. High Fly being a brilliant performer. But he also added that he was terrified of the microphone.
The Highlight of the Night had a backstage segment with Swerve Strickland on Dynamite this week which went viral for his freakish laugh. Since the segment aired, fans have been targeting him on social media. People are even using Triple H's five-year-old comments to question his promo skills.
Jim Cornette on Ricochet's promo skills
WWE veteran Jim Cornette was the latest to comment on Ricochet's promo skills. Speaking on his Drive Thru podcast, he stated that The Human Highlight Reel not being able to speak or use social media would turn out to be the best thing for him for his pro wrestling career.
"I'm surprised they didn't have somebody cut Ricochet's vocal cords. He might be a bigger star if you didn't hear him spin and maybe break his fingers so he can't talk on Twitter. If Ricochet could not communicate in any way with the fans, I think he'd be a superstar," Cornette said.
The former WWE star is a participant in the Gold League of the 2024 Continental Classics. His current tournament score is 6.
