Triple H warned WWE's locker room not to "engage" with top AEW stars after they invaded RAW
WWE CCO Triple H warned his talents not to engage with AEW stars like The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, and more during their invasion of Monday Night RAW a few years ago. Triple H is the head of creative for the Stamford-based promotion.
In September 2017, Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks, Hangman Page, and Marty Scurll made headlines after appearing outside the arena hosting WWE Monday Night RAW in Ontario, California. Scurll recently shed some light on the story behind the invasion and how Triple H reacted to it.
In a recent chat on That's Wrestling podcast, Marty Scurll revealed that the idea for the invasion was suggested by The Young Bucks. He recalled almost getting into the building but that security stopped them.
"You know, we stood outside the building, and at one point, we had to make a left turn to get into the building. We’re coming toward it, and we’re like, ‘Driver, turn left, turn left!’ The driver turned left, basically going into the building, and everyone was like, ‘Oh no, this is real now. We’re gonna invade RAW.’ But then security came out and told us we couldn’t come in," he said.
Scurll further revealed that the invasion happened a little before RAW was supposed to go on air. He said that they would've gotten in trouble with NJPW and ROH had it happened while the show was on and if security had somehow let them in the building. Scurll also said that some of their friends on the inside told them how their antics did not sit well with Triple H and he texted everyone in the locker room asking them not to "engage" with the AEW stars.
"It wasn’t during RAW, though, it was before the show. In hindsight, we should’ve maybe done it while RAW was on because for them, it would’ve been amazing TV to just let us in and go to the ring and do whatever. In fact, we probably would’ve gotten in trouble with Ring of Honor and New Japan if we’d done that. But yeah, then we found out that Jimmy Jacobs was involved. We have friends in WWE, and we found out through them. I think it was Triple H who texted everyone, basically saying, ‘These guys are outside, don’t engage with them.’ He was not happy at all with what happened," he added. [H/T: RingsideNews]
Triple H is the head of creative in WWE
Triple H was appointed as the WWE head of creative in 2022 after Vince McMahon stepped down. The Game has arguably done a solid job in reshaping the product and bringing back stars like Bronson Reed, Karrion Kross, Bo Dallas, and Chelsea Green, among others.
The former 14-time World Champion is also responsible for going back to some classic ideas in the company like separating the unified titles and using matches like Hell in a Cell for meaningful storylines.
We will have to wait and see what exciting stories Triple H has planned for WWE in the future.
