Unfortunate update on Ricky Starks' AEW status - Reports

Ricky Starks hasn't been seen on AEW television in quite some time. New details have come to light regarding his status in the company.

Ricky Starks made his AEW debut in a grand manner by challenging Cody Rhodes for the TNT Championship. Since then, Starks has come a long way and has grown to become one of the company's most reliable performers in the ring and on the microphone.

Despite his consistent performances, Starks' booking has been fairly lackluster. He has rarely appeared on television in the past year. While he did enjoy a tag title run, he hasn't been seen much since he lost the gold. His last AEW match took place earlier this year in March.

With recent rumors of the 34-year-old's contract status, many people started speculating on his status with the company. During Fightful Select's Q&A session, Sean Ross Sapp clarified that Starks hadn't been backstage for their weekly shows in a while, unfortunately indicating that he was not close to being back on television.

“Not that I heard. I haven’t heard that he’s been backstage or anything like that,” he said. [H/T: Ringside News]

Jade Cargill on Ricky Starks leaving AEW for WWE

The rumors of Ricky Starks leaving AEW for WWE have been doing the rounds for a while now. Many people have commented on the possibility of this happening including some of Starks' closest friends.

However, during a recent interview with Stephanie Chase, WWE Superstar Jade Cargill, one of Starks' best friends, mentioned that he was happy wherever he was and that she was happy for him.

"We’re just like this [meshes her hands], we just collide, we have great ideas. We have great fashion tastes, we talk about everything under the sun. He’s in a good place right now. But I am on for whatever he’s on. He’s happy where he’s at right now, and I’m happy for him," Cargill said. [H/T Fightful]

The possibility of Starks leaving AEW for WWE seems likely due to his friendship with Cody Rhodes and Jade Cargill, and only time will tell what career path the 34-year-old decides to walk on in the future.
