Unprotected AEW chair shot was not gimmicked, argues former WWE personality, releases video proof
A former WWE personality is the latest to comment on an unprotected AEW chair shot. He argues that the chair used for the spot was not gimmicked.
Jimmy Korderas is known for his time in WWE where he was a referee for several years. He worked with the Stamford-based promotion from 1987 to 2009. During this time, he refereed several major matches involving some of the biggest names in the business.
Following his release from WWE, Korderas refereed one match for Ring of Honor in 2012. He even wrote a book called "The Three Count - My Life in Stripes as a WWE Referee" which was published in 2013. Korderas has come into the limelight again for his recent comments.
Recently, AEW booked a Blood & Guts Match which featured Team AEW (Swerve Strickland, Mark Briscoe, Darby Allin, Max Caster, and Anthony Bowens) taking on The Elite (Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, Kazuchika Okada, Jack Perry, and "Hangman" Adam Page). During the match, Jack Perry found himself handcuffed to the cage as Mark Briscoe hit him with an unprotected chair shot. This move was the biggest talking point of the match as many fans believed the chair used by Briscoe was gimmicked.
However, Jimmy Korderas took to social media with a video explaining why the chair shot wasn't gimmicked as there is no way to shave down a solid steel chair.

The Young Bucks provided a health update on Jack Perry after the unprotected chair shot at AEW Blood & Guts 2024
The Blood & Guts match ended when Matthew Jackson quit the match for his team to prevent Darby Allin from setting Jack Perry on fire. Despite the outcome of the match, many fans were concerned about the health of Perry after he received an unprotected chair shot.
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, The Young Bucks confirmed that Jack Perry is fine and he is aware of the risks involved in such matches.
“All I know is Jack is fine, and that’s all that matters,” said Nicholas Jackson. “We know the risk we’re taking in the ring, and it wouldn’t have happened if he wasn’t prepared for it.” [H/T: Sports Illustrated]
It will be interesting to see if this match has helped settle the scores between both teams.
