Update on AEW veteran Jim Ross's health after major surgery

AEW commentator Jim Ross has provided a huge update on his health after undergoing surgery. He has been one of the top names in the business due to his vast experience in the industry.

The veteran commentator has been known for his excellent knowledge and incomparable voice. He has been calling action in the ring and outside for almost five decades now. He was a staple in WWE for many, many years, where he was well-known for his commentary with his co-commentator Jerry Lawler. He cut ties with the Stamford-based promotion in 2017.

Jim Ross has been a part of AEW since 2019. During the initial years, the veteran was a full-time commentator on Dynamite and pay-per-views. However, due to his health issues, his schedule was restricted to only pay-per-views. He recently called action at WrestleDream. He underwent hip surgery earlier this year, which hasn't been easy for him.

While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he has been able to travel since he underwent hip surgery but it still bothered him.

"I feel better. I feel better about traveling; I'm not so hesitant about travelling right now because I'm feeling good. My hip still bothers me, I wonder how long a g*ddamn hip replacement takes to heal, but it ain't happened for me yet," he said. [H/T - WrestlingInc.]

Jim Ross congratulates Hiroshi Tanahashi ahead of his retirement

A few days ago, Hiroshi Tanahashi announced that he would be retiring from in-ring competition next year. He will be competing in his final match in January 2026 at Wrestle Kingdom 20.

While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross praised the NJPW star. He also congratulated Hiroshoi for his stellar career.

"He's the ace. He was the ace there for a long time and he pulled that company. He got hot. He connected with his audience. He got hot and they rode that horse as far as they could go and I've always liked his work. He incorporated a little bit of the American style with his Japanese stuff. He's had a wonderful career so I congratulate him on that," he said.

It will be interesting to see who will face the Ace in his final match.
