Veteran advises Tony Khan not to bring back WWE Hall of Famer as the new commissioner of AEW

A WWE veteran doesn't want AEW President Tony Khan to bring a former star as an authority figure. The star being discussed is Sting.

The Icon retired from in-ring action at the Revolution pay-per-view earlier this year, where he and Darby Allin retained their AEW World Tag Team Championships in his final match.

Over the past few weeks, The Young Bucks have asserted their power over the entire locker room. The Elite attacked Tony Khan and Kenny Omega in previous weeks. They also fired Christopher Daniels on a recent edition of Dynamite. Also, Tony has been selling his neck injury after being attacked.

Since then, fans have been speculating for Sting to return and restore order in the Jacksonville-based promotion.

While speaking on The Gigantic Pop podcast, WWE veteran Matt Morgan said that instead of Sting as an authority figure on TV, Tony Khan should hire a real booker for the promotion to improve the product.

"No, No. Okay. On air personalities, I'm like 50-50 with, it depends on who is playing it. At the end of the day, whoever it is, everybody knows it's not real (...) You're saying a chance to get Sting on television, maybe it would help, it wouldn't. That's not gonna help Tony get out of his own way. Tony getting out of his own way is hiring a god darn booker, that knows how to book pro wrestling without being on the pro wrestling," Matt said. (33:11 - 34:02)

WWE veteran Kevin Nash dismissed the idea of Sting returning as a commissioner in AEW

Not many people are apparently on board with the idea of Sting making a comeback to AEW TV in the role of an 'Authority Figure.'

Speaking on Kliq This, the Hall of Famer didn't agree to the idea of The Vigilante returning to the Jacksonville-based promotion for a managerial role.

"Steve's not gonna do that. Why would he, you can't be the commissioner and come out in shades... Put it this way, Steve isn't gonna do it," he said.

Only time will tell if Sting will return to the Tony Khan-led promotion as a commissioner for AEW.
