Veteran says Tony Khan would have loved to sign top star who was let go by Triple H, just to rub WWE's nose in it
A popular wrestling veteran recently weighed in on the surprising sequence of events surrounding a top star's shocking return to WWE following reports that he was let go by Triple H. The veteran, former Hardcore Champion Al Snow, believes that AEW President Tony Khan would have loved to sign him if he had the opportunity.
R-Truth shocked the wrestling community when he made his WWE return at Money in the Bank 2025, weeks after he announced his release from the promotion. Following his return, the CCO of World Wrestling Entertainment, Triple H, labelled it a "work." However, R-Truth, now going by his real name Ron Killings, later posted on X that it was not a work.
On the latest episode of Vince Russo’s The Brand, Russo, joined by Jeff Lane and veteran Al Snow, addressed the matter, with the veteran stating that Tony Khan wouldn't have hesitated to sign Truth.
"The one person that I know would have jumped on board and signed him in a heartbeat would have been Tony Khan. He would have snapped him right up and would have loved to have taken Truth away, which, just for Truth, is a tremendous benefit. I mean, at the end of the day, out of all of this, he won. He gets to continue to have a career and to continue to be in a spot where he continues to make more money," Snow said. (1:12 - 1:40)
Snow further added that Tony Khan’s main motivation in signing Truth would be to put WWE down.
"Tony Khan would have picked him up just basically to rub WWE's nose in it and he would have gotten a ton of money from Tony Khan to sign, more than what he would have drawn." (6:19 - 6:31)

Snow’s comments now raise the possibility that, along with fan protests, AEW’s potential interest may have played a part in WWE’s quick decision to bring him back.
WWE veteran Al Snow recently criticised Tony Khan's leadership skills
Al Snow believes that AEW has failed to manage the star power of some of its talent and blames it on its President, Tony Khan.
Speaking on an earlier edition of Vince Russo's The Brand, the veteran pointed fingers at Tony Khan's approach to signing wrestlers and criticised the way stars like Jon Moxley, Adam Copeland, and Mercedes Mone have been handled by AEW.
While most fans are happy to see the former WWE stars in action again, some feel Khan could do better, with the home-grown talent getting an opportunity to shine too.
It will be interesting to see how Tony Khan handles such situations in the future.
