Vince McMahon admired the creative genius of an AEW star; legend says: "I saw him backstage with Vince many times" (Exclusive)
AEW star Chris Jericho often credits former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon for the things he taught him in the Stamford-based promotion. Sportskeeda Senior Editor Bill Apter revealed that McMahon admired the creative genius of the ROH World Champion.
Y2J is one of the biggest stars in professional wrestling. Before coming to WWE, Chris Jericho was already an established star in WCW and Japan. In WWE, Jericho is a six-time world champion and also holds the record for most Intercontinental Championship reigns at nine. After leaving the promotion in 2018, Chris Jericho helped shape the newly founded AEW and was crowned its first World Champion in 2019.
In the recent edition of Sportskeeda's exclusive The Wrestling Time Machine podcast hosted by Mac Davis, Bill Apter revealed that he saw Chris Jericho and Vince McMahon exchanging words backstage a couple of times. He claimed that McMahon appreciated the creative mind of the former AEW World Champion.
"Yeah, I saw him backstage with Vince many many times. I don't know what they were talking about but they were always bouncing ideas and suggestions off each other. Vince McMahon appreciated what I'm going to call the 'creative genius' of Chris Jericho." [1:40-1:58]
Bill Apter further heaped praise on former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho
In the same video, Senior Editor Bill Apter noted how Chris Jericho always changes up his character and reinvents himself whenever it becomes stale. He claimed that the former world champion is a creative genius. The veteran's most recent character change has been The Learning Tree gimmick where Jericho uses the backlash from the fans against them and acts as a babyface.
"He is a creative genius. How many times has he changed his whole routine and he has come back fresh almost every single time? Right?" [1:59-2:10]
Chris Jericho won his second ROH World Championship after defeating Mark Briscoe a couple of weeks ago. We will have to wait and see who will defeat the veteran for the title.
