Vince McMahon is responsible for massive ticket sales for AEW All In, according to WWE veteran
AEW All In at Wembley Stadium on August 27th, 2023, is shaping up to be one of the biggest wrestling events of the year, and a wrestling veteran believes that Vince McMahon is responsible for its success.
WWE has been on a roll since Vince retired back in July 2022, with many fans seeing Triple H's regime as the new golden era for the company. However, that all came to a screeching halt when it seemed that McMahon was back in control of the creative direction of the company.
Shortly after it was revealed that Vince was back, AEW announced that they would be hosting the second-ever All In event at Wembley Stadium in London, England, capitalizing on the negative news that was surrounding WWE at the time.
Since Vince McMahon is back amongst the creative decisions in WWE, Jim Cornette feels as if that wrestling fans are now buying tickets to AEW All In out of spite. Here's what he had to say on his podcast, "The Jim Cornette Experience:"
“We’ve been laughing about it for over a year, it’s like a promotional war that nobody wants to win. So then Vince comes back and everybody’s got a bad taste in their mouths and they’re ‘hate-buying’ tickets to Wembley Stadium, the WWE meanwhile instead of giving the people a finish to the hottest story they’ve had in years, that story became the never-ending story. Now they’re splitting up the belt that Cody [Rhodes] didn’t even get a chance to win yet.” [8:53-9:22]
Cornette also believes that whenever WWE looks like they are going to gain the upper hand over AEW, something crops up that puts a stop to all of it.
“I don’t even know now if this is a network thing like USA [Network] saying ‘well we don’t get the champion’ and Smackdown’s saying ‘well we want the champion’ as much as I think Vince [McMahon] is back f**king things up again. It’s almost like clockwork that every time the WWE starts taking off again and looking like they’re running and leaving Tony Khan in the dust, they manage to shoot themselves in the foot.” [8:22-8:52]
Jim Cornette feels that Vince McMahon's return will lead to WWE Superstars joining AEW
All Elite Wrestling has already managed to snap up a number of top WWE stars since 2019, from CM Punk and Jon Moxley to Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson, with the latter of which debuting mere months after main eventing WrestleMania.
Now that Vince McMahon is back in WWE, Jim Cornette feels as if a number of superstars might feel like their days are numbered unless they are in a major storyline.
“So all this s**t’s getting f**ked up because apparently Vince is back and 10 pounds heavier and several shades darker and he’s in charge. Again wrestlers are going to be like ‘f**k, we might not be in The Bloodline, we might get flatlined. Let’s go over and play in the sandbox with Tony’s friends.” [9:28-9:53]
