Wardlow's return announced, but not in AEW
Wardlow hasn't competed in AEW for a long time. However, he is now set to make an appearance for a different wrestling promotion.
Wardlow started his AEW career prominently as he was paired up alongside Maxwell Jacob Friedman. He remained by MJF's side for a considerable period before breaking out on his own. While he immediately found success by winning the TNT Championship thrice, his run soon fizzled out and he struggled to find TV time.
In the past year, he hasn't been involved in many notable storylines. He was initially part of the Undisputed Kingdom. However, he hasn't been seen since he lost the World Championship match to Samoa Joe in March 2024 due to an injury.
Pandemonium Pro Wrestling recently announced that it will return from hiatus with a show on April 17, 2025, set to take place in Fremont Country Club in Las Vegas. Wardlow is scheduled to compete at the event although he is still under contract with All Elite Wrestling. This will be his first independent match since August 2022.
Wardlow was backstage for a recent AEW Dynamite show
Wardlow hasn't been seen on TV since March this year. His last match was against Samoa Joe for the World Championship. After losing this match, the former TNT Champion was absent from programming for several months due to an injury.
He was also seemingly kicked out of the Undisputed Kingdom after Adam Cole took shots at him for losing to Joe. However, it looks like his return might not be far off. PWInsider is reporting that Wardlow was backstage for last week's Fright Night Dynamite. However, his return date is still not known.
"Wardlow was backstage at last night's AEW Dynamite taping. We are told he looked healthy. No word as to when or whether he's returning," stated the report. [H/T: PWInsider]
Only time will tell when the 36-year-old returns to the ring from injury.
