[Watch] AEW star MJF disrespects WWE Title replica during a fan meet, drops it on the floor
AEW star MJF recently threw away the WWE Universal Championship during a meet-up. The Universal Title was merged with the Undisputed WWE Title last year.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman is known for protecting his character outside of AEW. He is one of the biggest heels in professional wrestling and often gets praised for keeping kayfabe alive. The former AEW World Champion has been on the radar of WWE as seen in many reports in the past few years. However, MJF seems to not shy away from showing his true feelings about the Stamforrd-based promotion.
On Instagram, a fan posted a clip of MJF tossing the Universal Championship on the floor after taking a photo with a fan during a meet-up.
A former WWE star loves AEW star MJF's character work
MJF is mostly known for his incredible heel work in professional wrestling. The Salt of the Earth does a great job in keeping kayfabe which gets praised by many fans and veterans in professional wrestling.
During an interview with Reel Appreciation, former WWE star Maven praised MJF and called him one of his favorite stars in the current era. He noted how Friedman blurs the line between kayfabe and reality in professional wrestling.
"Obviously, I could put guys like Rock or Austin. I mean, they're, obviously at the top of the list. But, if we're talking about today's business, I love MJF. I think MJF is gonna revolutionize what it means to be a heel in wrestling. I think he's just fantastic because he blurs the lines," said Maven. "I know him, and I know how nice of a guy he is, but most wrestling fans think that's who he is because he does such a good job of portraying that. Going today, he's probably one of my favorites."
MJF is currently involved in a feud with Adam Cole in All Elite Wrestling. We will have to wait and see if he shifts his focus to the World Title picture after the rivalry.
