[Watch] Darby Allin pays classy tribute to Sting to close out AEW Dynamite 250
Darby Allin paid tribute to Sting as he returned on Dynamite 250 tonight. The Icon retired after successfully defending the AEW World Tag Team Championship at the Revolution Pay-Per-View against The Young Bucks.
The former TNT Champion held the championship along with Darby Allin, who later vacated them after the former's retirement. The Relentless Star was aligned with Sting for most of his AEW career. In his last Dynamite appearance, the legend entered the arena from the rafters.
Darby Allin has been out of action in AEW since March 2024 due to a broken foot and nose. He appeared at Double or Nothing's Anarchy in the Arena match despite not being cleared for in-ring action. The former TNT Champion recently confirmed that he was ready to return after having recovered from the injuries.
The former TNT Champion appeared backstage at Dynamite last week and called out The Elite. On the 250th edition of the flagship show tonight, Jack Perry called out Darby and challenged the latter to confront him. Later on in the main event, the EVPs and Perry interrupted the bout between Swerve Strickland and Kazuchika Okada.
During the closing moments of the match, all the confirmed members of Team AEW and Elite brawled in the ring when Darby Allin came out from the rafters to even the odds. This was seemingly a tribute to his former partner Sting as he often entered from the rafters earlier in his career.
The former TNT Champion is also the fifth member of Team AEW for the Blood and Guts match. It will be interesting to see if the babyface team can pick up the victory under Swerve Strickland's leadership.
