[Watch] Former WWE star hypes in-ring return, has not wrestled for 365+ days

The 2024 has seen many wrestlers getting injured. However, recently former WWE star has hyped their in-ring return after being out for more than 365 days.

The name in question is none other than Mercedes Mone fka Sasha Banks. Mone made her AEW debut in March 2023 and will compete in her first match in Jacksonville-based company this weekend as she will take on Willow Nightingale for the AEW TBS title at Double or Nothing pay-per-view.

The former IWGP Women's Champion last competed in May 2023 at the NJPW STRONG Resurgence pay-per-view. She suffered an ankle injury during her match against Willow Nightingale and has been out of action ever since. Ahead of her in-ring return, The CEO recently posted a video of her working it out in the ring.

She took to Twitter and wrote about her return and hyped it up by saying:

"Ready for the Moné?! 🤑 We’re a week away from my in-ring debut at AEW’s Double or Nothing!"

Konnan explains why former WWE star Mercedes Mone is being booed

WCW veteran Konnan is one to speak out what is on his mind and he recently revealed why he thinks the AEW fans are booing Mercedes Mone. The former Sasha Banks is currently in a rivalry with Willow Nightingale who is a major babyface.

Speaking on his K100 podcast, Konnan gave his two cents on the former WWE star’s current plight. He said:

"For years we've been saying that she cuts heel promos as a babyface, even when she was in WWE, then she came here [AEW] and then check it out. Her first weekend that she came in, she got a thunderous, obviously she was in Boston, but she got a thunderous ovation, CEO chants, like huge babyface thing. Her promo was very heelish and we brought it up. Second week, she got a huge ovation, her promo was heelish, we brought it up. Third week her promo was heelish, we brought it up. Fourth week, the fans figured out and turned on her."

It looks like it's just a matter of time before Mercedes turns heel and embraces her character fully in AEW. It will be interesting what transpires this week before Double or Nothing.
