WCW veteran calls out FTR and Sammy Guevara for no-showing major events outside AEW

Many AEW talents, including FTR and Sammy Guevara, regularly appear in other promotions. WCW veteran Konnan recently called out The Spanish God and the former World Tag Team Champion for missing multiple AAA shows.

Since its inception, AEW has forged partnerships with numerous companies, such as NJPW, AAA, and CMLL. As part of these agreements, the Tony Khan-led organization often exchanges wrestlers with other promotions. However, this has caused problems for the smaller promotions as some performers tend to miss shows.

On a recent episode of his Keepin' It 100 podcast, Konnan, who is a backstage personality in AAA, highlighted how talents like FTR, Sammy Guevara, and Tay Melo have missed the Mexican promotion's events in the past. Meanwhile, he praised Jeff Jarrett and Satnam Singh for their professionalism.

"We don't have to deal with the headaches of (...) sometimes AEW talent wasn't showing up, you know, Jeff and Satnam have been great. They have not missed one show but like FTR missed shows. Tay [Melo] and Sammy missed at least three, Kenny [Omega] missed at least two, you know, he was hurt but you know what I'm saying." [4:56 - 5:14]

Konnan levels major accusations against AEW President Tony Khan

While AEW has managed to maintain a good relationship with its partners over the years, there is one company that isn't fond of the way their agreement was handled. It all started when All Elite Wrestling started working with CMLL.

As a condition of this partnership, AAA talents weren't allowed on shows where CMLL stars were performing. This wasn't the only thing that caused friction between the two companies.

During the same podcast episode, Konnan claimed that Tony Khan preferred CMLL over AAA and sent AEW's biggest draws like Jon Moxley over to the former while the latter had to settle for smaller names.

"Once Tony [Khan] decided to give them [CMLL] preference and send them guys like [Jon] Moxley. Guys that I had asked for years ago and he would never send them to me, you know, he would send me, and I don't want to disrespect anybody but, you know, he'd send me in their place I go 'Yo, can I get Moxley or [Chris] Jericho or [CM] Punk or you know somebody that has some name value?' Oh no, I got Jay Lethal and Bobby Fish. Well, I'll take them (...) and because they're good wrestlers right but they're not draws. So, he sent them pure draws. He sent [Mercedes] Mone just to sit in the audience, you know, and go up there and make a challenge like he never did any of that with us." [0:54 - 1:30]

It will be interesting to see whether Tony Khan and AEW will continue to forge working relationships with smaller promotions.
