Wheeler Yuta's status with Blackpool Combat Club after shocking betrayal at AEW All Out revealed
The seemingly new iteration of the Blackpool Combat Club turned against one of its own founding members at the AEW All Out 2024 Pay-Per-View. A programming update has now emerged relating to Wheeler Yuta and his status in the faction, which he has been a part of for nearly two years now.
Yuta has been competing in the Jacksonville-based promotion since 2021. After a brief stint in the beloved faction Best Friends, the Pennsylvania native joined the Blackpool Combat Club after his star-making performances against Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley. Yuta recently won the AEW World Trios Championship alongside his stablemate, Claudio Castagnoli, and former International Champion PAC at All In 2024. He also squared off against The Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Championship with The Swiss Cyborg at All Out 2024, although the duo were unable to defeat the All Elite Wrestling EVPs.
Later on during the same pay-per-view, the Blackpool Combat Club would seemingly join Bryan Danielson in the ring to celebrate his AEW World Championship retention against Jack Perry. However, in a shocking turn of events, Castagnoli dropped Danielson with an uppercut, after which Jon Moxley suffocated The American Dragon with a plastic bag around his head. Yuta was seen visibly distressed and nearly in tears watching the betrayal unfold as he was physically restrained by PAC. He also rushed to help Danielson to the back with medical personnel after his stablemates left the ring, seemingly suggesting that he was not privy to their plan.
During the September 13, 2024, edition of Rampage, broadcast official and commentator Excalibur claimed that Wheeler Yuta has supposedly not talked to his trios partners, PAC and Claudio Castagnoli, since the events that transpired at All Out 2024.
Yuta was in action against Anthony Henry of The WorkHorsemen on the recent tapings of Collision, which is set to air on September 14, 2024.
AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson recently praised his protege Wheeler Yuta
One of Bryan Danielson's motivations behind the foundation of the Blackpool Combat Club was to train, improve, and elevate up-and-coming talents such as Daniel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta. The 27-year-old star joined the stable in 2022 and has found success as a member of the faction, having held the ROH Pure Championship and more recently winning the AEW World Trios Championship with Claudio Castagnoli and PAC.
Days ahead of becoming the AEW World Champion at All In 2024, Bryan Danielson heaped praise on Yuta during an interview with Bleacher Report, complimenting him as an individual and his continuous growth as a wrestler.
It remains to be seen whether Danielson will have Yuta in his corner during his ongoing feud with the new-look Blackpool Combat Club.
